Award Categories
Awards are presented in three different asset levels.
Small Funds—Up to $5 billion in assets under management.
Medium Funds—Between $5 and $25 billion in assets under management.
Large Funds—$25 billion plus in assets under management.

You may submit entries in any or all of the following categories.

Printed Communications

1. Investor Introduction Kit—Shareholder fulfillment kits and prospectus or communications packets sent upon initial investor request.
2. Annual Report—Annual or semi-annual reports.
3. Educational Brochure—Brochures on educational topics (excluding IRA and Retirement) such as college planning, asset allocation, taxes, etc.
4. Shareholder Newsletter—Printed shareholder newsletters.
5. Shareholder Magazine—Magazine-style shareholder communications.
6. Special Communications—Educational programs or special-message mailings targeted at current and/or prospective shareholders.
7. IRA Communications—Educational programs or packages on IRAs targeted to the retail audience.
8. Special Retirement Communications—Educational brochures, mailings, or programs focusing on retirement or retirement planning.
9. Intermediary Introduction Kit—Materials presented to advisors, broker/dealers or other intermediaries to introduce a fund company and its products.
10. Advisor Newsletter—Printed advisor newsletters.
11. Advisor Communications—Education programs, sales ideas or special-message mailings targeted to financial advisors or other intermediaries.
12. Advisor Communication Campaign—Campaign materials targeted to financial advisors or other intermediaries.
13. Plan Participant Newsletter—Newsletters targeted to participants of programs such as 401(k).
14. Plan Participant Retirement Brochure/Kit—Educational brochures or packages on retirement or IRAs targeted to participants of programs such as 401(k).
15. Plan Participant Communications—Educational materials or collateral targeted to participants of programs such as 401(k).
16. Plan Participant Program Campaign—Participant program campaign materials targeted to participants of programs such as 401(k).
17. Plan Sponsor Communications—Educational materials or collateral targeted to plan sponsors or administrators.

18. Electronic Shareholder Newsletter—Electronic shareholder newsletters.
19. Shareholder Services—Unique services offered through company Websites to shareholders such as account access or planning and education tools.
20. Retail Home Page—Website home pages that introduce fund companies to individual investors.
21. Retail Website—Websites that serve retail investors.
22. Electronic Advisor Newsletter—Electronic advisor newsletters.
23. Advisor Services—Unique services offered through company Websites to advisors and other intermediaries such as client access, business-building tools and sales ideas.
24. Advisor Home Page—Website home pages that introduce fund companies to advisors and other intermediaries.
25. Advisor Website—Websites that serve advisors and other intermediaries.
26. Participant Programs—Online programs and educational materials targeted to participants of programs such as 401(k).
27. Retirement Center—Retirement sections or centers on company Websites that are targeted to retail investors, plan participants or advisors.
28. Planning Center—Targeted planning centers on company Websites that address issues such as estate planning, investing for children, college planning, etc.
29. Marketing Campaign—Online or e-mail marketing campaigns.
30. Online Innovation—Unique Website features or programs that demonstrate innovative approaches to online fund communications.
 

Special Categories

31. Wild Card—Special efforts that do not fit into other categories. Be creative!

Overall Communications Award—Top award presented in each of the three asset categories. 
 
To be considered for a STAR Award for Overall Communications, a company must submit at least one entry from each of the following:

Entry Categories 18-30
